Old Business: None

New Business:

  1. CSSA Update – IS Dave Stevens presented an update report on CSSA 2009. He emphasized obtaining updated information on the web site (cssa2009.org) for schedule changes and updates. The CSSA Golf Tournament is in need of participants and hole sponsors. There will be a great ladies luncheon. Market place vendors are also needed along with candidates for the short form ceremonial to be held prior to the September 12 parade. Of course, nobles to participate in the parade are also needed. Registrations are no being taken in the Shriners Office and the registration form is located on the Al Kaly web site under the forms tab.
  2. Hospital Update – IS Bob Burr presented the status of the hospitals that will be on the “Call” for this year’s Imperial Session. These options are: closing five/six hospitals, or making them out patient centers, and third party insurance. This is necessary because of the reduction of the hospital endowment from $8 billion to $5 billion.
  3. Al Kaly Golf Tournament – Chief Rabban Steve kicked off the 2009 golf tournament to be held on July 17, Fort Carson, with a plea for registrants, donated gifts, and hole sponsors.
  4. 2009 Al Kaly Trip – Chief Rabban Steve also stated there are openings for the 2009 trip.
  5. IS Tom gave an update of the circuses by stating they started in Colorado Springs last week and will continue on through next week in Durango. IS Tom, CR Steve, and OG Roger will motor home to next week’s circuses starting in Lamar and ending in Durango.
  6. IS Tom then again reiterated the importance of our membership and that we need to turn it around.
  7. IS Tom thanked those that weathered the Canon City parade and thanked the Fremont Shrine Club/Honda Patrol for an outstanding lunch following the parade.
  8. IS Tom thanked Al Wetmore and Steve Jordan for taking a load of refurbished wheel chairs to the Salt Lake City Hospital. Noble Al then spoke of some of the different donated items he has taken to the hospital along with the wheel chairs.
Awards:
  1. Jewels of Distinction, silver/gold stars and membership pins were presented. Names of recipients will be printed in the July 2009 Dust. IS Bill Stoner and Noble Lamont Burger were awarded 25,000 point pins. They are only the second and third recipients of these pins. Noble Lamont could not attend as he was recuperating from a recent mishap.
  2. Noble Ron Brunwick was presented his Shrine Membership certificate from the Shriners Headquarters.
  3. With the assistance of HP&P Gary Sears, the Mule Train was presented a check for $1,000 as the top raffle calendar sales unit.
Reports from Clubs, Units, and Committees:

  2. The newly reformed Oriental Band now has five or six interested members. Anyone interested in joining is asked to contact Gary Sears or Jackson Chandler.
  3. Cliff Wieger presented $4499.80 to the potentate as proceeds from the 2009 IS Jerry Sube Bowl-A-Thon. Half will be sent to the Salt Lake City Hospital and half retained in our children’s transportation fund.
